Our French Lifetime Mortgage Service
Lifetime mortgages are designed mainly to enable homeowners over 65 years of age who do not have a mortgage on their property to release some of the equity in order to supplement their retirement income.
The actual amount of the loan depends not only on the value of the property but also on the age of the applicant. These mortgages are arranged on the basis that no interest payments will be made to the lender during the lifetime of the borrower. Instead, interest is allowed to roll up and is repaid, along with the original loan, when the property is sold or on the death of the borrower (or second borrower, if a couple).

When securing a debt against your foreign property, please remember that:
a) your foreign property may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on any mortgage or loan secured on it.
b) changes in the exchange rate may increase the sterling equivalent of your debt if taken in another currency.
For all mortgages and loans, irrespective of their location, please be sure that you can afford the repayments before entering into any credit agreement.
